Mission
How to adapt existing content seamlessly to an immersive room, in both pre-processed and real-time ways, to achieve a higher sense of immersivity.
Client: 1O (Mauritius)
Director: Avneesh
Answer
To set up a workflow that distributes the content, initially created as a 2D landscape format, into a spherical projection format.
The venue
The existing content
The content, mostly filmed, is organic: plants, flowers, water... Sometimes, using a rectangular layout works, allowing for placing in parallel videos from different scales for example.
But for more immersive content, it doesn't work anymore: seams appear, the perspective is wrong, the illusion is broken.
Technical solution
For pre-existing content, I proposed a workflow based on After Effects + Cinema4D, tools that the client already uses. It requires processing and rendering.
A second solution has also been developed in real time, as the client wanted to play live visuals in the same venue. For this, I used TouchDesigner, a robust real-time tool that deals very well with video content.
